IMMACULATA, Pa.- The Immaculata field hockey team gave a strong effort in a tightly contested non-conference game but ultimately fell short, dropping a 2-1 decision to visiting Oswego State on Friday afternoon at Draper Walsh Stadium.

For a second straight game, Immaculata came out with high energy and capitalized early, as
Morgan Barnes scored less than six minutes into the game, putting the Mighty Macs up 1-0.
Oswego State answered just five minutes later to tie the score at 1-1 and scored the eventual game winning goal in the third quarter as they held on for a 2-1 win.

With the loss, Immaculata falls to 4‑9 overall, while Oswego State improves to 4‑7, 0‑1 SUNYAC.

HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST OSWEGO STATE
- Immaculata opened the scoring in the sixth minute when Alexis Andrada intercepted a pass and quickly fed Morgan Barnes, who carried the ball into the circle, beat a defender, and fired a shot into the cage to give the Mighty Macs an early 1-0 lead.
- Oswego State earned a penalty corner in the game's 12 minute, the shot that was kept out of the cage by Immaculata defender Rachel Madden's defensive save.
- Oswego's controlled the rebound of the defensive save and Mimi Wozniczka scored to tie the game at 1-1 at 12:01 of the first quarter.
- In the third quarter, Oswego State got a penalty corner in the 41st minute of play. Off the corner the Lakers had back-to-back shots that were kept out of the net on a pair of defensive saves by Natalie Dodd, before earning another penalty corner.
- Oswego State scored on the ensuing corner, as Sophia Prianti found the back of the cage at 11:04 for the third quarter to take a 2-1 lead.
- Immaculata continued to battle to the end of the game earning four penalty corners in the fourth quarter but were unable to score the tying goal.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Morgan Barnes scored her fourth goal of the season and has now scored in consecutive games for Immaculata.
- Rachel Madden registered her first defensive save of the season.
- Natalie Dodd registered her first two defensive saves of the season—becoming the first IU player to record multiple defensive saves in a game since Madalyn Bonner had two at Goucher on October 8, 2024.
- Goalkeeper Ella Miller made four saves for Immaculata, playing her first full game in the cage.
