IMMACULATA, Pa.- The Immaculata Men's Basketball team was bested by Marymount University 67-63 in their Atlantic East Conference opener on Saturday. Four Mighty Macs reached double figures on the afternoon, as
Mandon Seapoe and
Dylan Crews each had 16 while
Samuel Jankowski and
Tym Richardson had 10 apiece.
Immaculata entered play on Saturday after splitting games in Juniata's Doc Greene Holiday Tournament. The MIghty Macs defeated Juniata College 67-58 on Sunday before falling to New Jersey City University 43-59 in the tournament championship game.
Following today's loss to the Saints, Men's Basketball now sits at 5-9 with an 0-1 record in-Conference. Marymount improves to 7-5 on the season and 1-0 against the Atlantic East.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Samuel Jankowski recorded the Mighty Macs' first bucket ninety seconds after tip-off. Following a string of three consecutive turnovers, Mandon Seapoe steadied the ship with a pair of made layups.
- Immaculata managed nine points through the first twelve minutes of play, as Marymount held an early 18-9 advantage. Two 3-point field goals and a made layup from Tym Richardson helped the Mighty Macs out of their early dry spell. They'd tighten the score to 18-16 Marymount with 6:28 remaining before halftime.
- With three minutes on the clock, the Saints found success behind the arc on consecutive possessions, leading into their 29-23 advantage at the break.
- Dylan Crews opened the second half with a made three pointer and an emphatic block on the other end. Crews converted his two other tries from behind the arc shortly thereafter, as Marymount led by one, 37-36, five minutes into the second half.
- Following a pair of driving layups from Dylan Crews, a successful tip-in from Tym Richardson gave the Mighty Macs their first lead 42-41 with twelve minutes on the scoreboard.
- Jumpshots brought Marymount back in front, 49-43, before a John Proctor layup and an and-one from Robbie Logan. Samuel Jankowski had the Macs' next eight points, as he'd convert three layups and two of three free throws to give Immaculata their largest lead at 56-51.
- During the final four minutes of play, Marymount tilted the game in their favor, collecting points on a majority of their trips down the court.
- Down six points with thirty seconds on the clock, the Mighty Macs were forced to foul to get the ball back. Mandon Seapoe gave Immaculata a glimmer of hope late, hitting two driving layups and stepping into a head on three with 0:13 left. Marymount was able to ice the game at the line, however, handing Immaculata a four point loss in each team's Atlantic East Conference opener.

- Dylan Crews scored 16 points and delivered a block and two steals defensively.

- Marymount shot 39.3% (22-56) from the field, 33.3% (7-21) from behind the arc, and 64% (16-25) from the stripe. They scored seven second chance points, 30 points in the paint, and scored twelve points off turnovers.
- The score was tied twice, with six lead changes.
