WILKES-BARRE, Pa.- The Immaculata field hockey team scored a pair of goals in the third quarter to take a 3-2 lead. The Mighty Macs were able to hold off the King's attack in the fourth quarter to secure the win in their first road contest of the 2024 season.
Alexis Andrada scored a pair of goals, including the eventual game winner, giving her five goals on the season.
Kayla Ledbetter scored the Macs second goal, and
Della George had a pair of assists.
The Mighty Macs move to 2-1 on the season, while the Monarchs fall to 0-2.
How it Happened
- Immaculata got off to a fast start applying pressure on the King's defense as Della George and Alexis Andrada shots forced King's goalie Emily Bollinger to make early saves.
- Immaculata opened the scoring off a penalty corner in the game's fifth minute as Alexis Andrada scored her fourth goal of the season on an assist from Della George.
- Immaculata continued to apply pressure but were unable to add on to their lead as the first quarter ended with the Mighty Macs leading 1-0.
- Kings would gain the momentum early in the second quarter when Emma Clark scored in the game's 18th minute assisted by Megan Harry.
- The Monarchs would take the lead in the games 26th minute when Rowan Murray scored.
- Kings would take the 2-1 lead into the halftime break.
- Immaculata held a 7-3 advantage in shots, and a 4-3 advantage in penalty corners in the first half of play.
- Immaculata responded in the third quarter generating the only four shots in the quarter, and the only two penalty corners.
- In the game's 40th minute, Kayla Ledbetter scored off a penalty corner, with Della George picking up the assist to tie the score at 2-2. Abby Fekete inserted the penalty corner.
- The game would not stay tied long, as Alexis Andrada scored her fifth goal of the season in the game's 41st minute to give the Mighty Macs a 3-2 lead heading into the fourth quarter.
