Macs Fall to Eagles 4-3 in Overtime

IMMACULATA, Pa.- The Immaculata field hockey team (1-1, 0-0 AEC) fell to Eastern 4-3 in overtime on Wednesday afternoon at Draper Walsh Stadium. 

Alexis Andrada scored two goals, and Della George scored one goal for the Mighty Macs. 

How It Happened 

  • Immaculata got off to a fast start generating the first shot in the fourth minute by Alexis Andrada

  • Kailey Mayoros generated the first shot on goal, that was saved by Eastern starting goalie Angelina Catania at the fifth minute. 

  • Alexis Andrada opened the scoring with her second goal of the season in the 13th minute on an assist from Gigi Fox 13th minute as Immaculata led 1-0 after the first quarter. 

  • Eastern took control of the game in the second quarter out shooting Immaculata 7-1 in the quarter.  

  • Immaculata goalkeeper Julia Levase made three saves in the quarter as the Mighty Macs took a 1-0 lead into the halftime break. 

  • Eastern switched goalies at half-time as Christina Unger entered the game. 

  • Eastern tied the score at 1-1 with a goal by JoEl Groff in the 37th minute. 

  • The game remained tied 1-1 at the end of three quarters. 

  • Alexis Andrada put Immaculata ahead 2-1 with her third goal of the season in the 51st minute when she deflected Alexa Marczak's shot into the cage. 

  • Eastern would respond in the 53rd minute with a goal by Jenna Reider. 

  • Della George put Immaculata ahead for a third time in the 54th minute when she scored on her own rebound for her first goal of the season. 

  • Eastern tied the game for a third time in the 56th minute when Cj Summa scored off a penalty corner to send the game to overtime. 

  • The Eagles would go on to win game on Cj Summa's second goal of the game off a penalty corner in the third minute of overtime. 

Inside the Numbers 

  • Alexis Andrada continued her fast start to her college career with her second and third goals of the season. 

  • Senior Della George scored her first goal of the season, giving her points in both games this season. 

  • Gigi Fox had an assist on Immaculata's first goal, her first assist of her college career. 

  • Alexa Marczak assisted Andrada's second goal, for the first assist in her college career. 

  • Eastern out shot Immaculata 22-19, but Immaculata led in shots on goal 11-9.  

  • Eastern led in penalty corners 13-9.

  • The Immaculata field hockey team will be back in action on Saturday, September 7th when they travel to play at King's College at 12:00 pm.
