Field Hockey Plays Third Straight Road Game at Alvernia on Tuesday

THE STORYLINE
  • Immaculata (4-4) will be back in action on Tuesday, when they travel to Reading to play Alvernia University. The Mighty Macs who have lost their last three games, are facing another tough test on Tuesday as they prepare to begin Atlantic East Conference play on October 12th.
  • Alvernia (4-3) fell to Stockton 3-2 on September 21st in Galloway, N.J. This season the Knights have wins over Muhlenberg 5-3, Wilkes 5-1, Arcadia 2-0, and Haverford 1-0. The have loses to Gettysburg 2-1 in OT, Franklin and Marshall 4-0, and Stockton 3-2.
 
THE SERIES
  • These two schools will be meeting for the third time in their series that began in 2006.
  • Immaculata is 0-2 lifetime against Alvernia.
 
LAST MEETING
  • Immaculata lost to Alvernia 6-0 in the schools last meeting in 2007.
  • Junior goalkeeper Bridget Dougherty made 14 saves for the Mighty Macs.
 
MIGHTY MAC NOTES
  • Senior Captain Della George continues to lead Immaculata on both ends of the field. George has three goals and four assists on the season. George generated Immaculata's only shots in their last two games.
  • Alexis Andrada has a team high seven goals for the Mighty Macs.
  • Senior goalkeeper Julia Levase has started all eight games for Immaculata with a 4-4 record. She has made 38 saves, on 51 shots faced and has a 1.61 goals-against average, with two shutouts.
  • Rachel Madden and Stephanie Webb have both been credited with one defensive save this season. Webb's defensive save was early in the game at Lebanon Valley on September 21st.
  • Madalyn Bonner and Rachel Madden have been strong on the defensive side of the field for Immaculata.
  • Immaculata will look for additional offensive support from Emilyn Bivens, Kailey Mayoros, and Abby Fekete.
  • Immaculata is averaging 9.5 shots per game, and their opponents are averaging 14.1.
 
SCOUTING ALVERNIA
  • Alvernia has been led offensively by sophomore forward Caroline Martin with five goals and one assist. Martin had two goals in the Knights loss to Stockton on September 21st.
  • First year forward Kelsy McClintock has four goals and a team high three assists.
  • Sophomore forward Ava Michael has four goals and one assist.
  • Senior goalkeeper Lexi Boettcher has started all seven games has made 42 saves on 63 shots faced and has a 1.75 goals-against average with two shutouts.
  • Alvernia is averaging 11 shots per game, and their opponents are averaging 13.3 shots per game.
 
WEEKLY HONORS
  • Goalkeeper Julia Levase was named to the Atlantic East Conference Field Hockey Weekly Honor Roll on Monday afternoon. Levase had a combined 17 saves over two games for Immaculata on 22 shots faced. Levase made seven saves vs Widener on September 17th and made 10 saves on 13 shots faced against unbeaten Lebanon Valley College on September 21st. She helped keep LVC off the board for the final 47:05 of the game.
 
UP NEXT
  • Immaculata field hockey will have a weekend off, before returning to action on Wednesday, October 2nd when they will host Stockton University at Draper Walsh Stadium at 7:00 pm.
