Women's Volleyball Falls to Bryn Athyn & Dickinson in Tri-Match

CARLISLE, Pa.- The Immaculata women's volleyball team (2-7) dropped both matches in their tri-match at Dickinson on Saturday. Immaculata lost to Bryn Athyn 3-1 in their first match, and to the host Dickinson 3-0 in their second match.

How it Happened vs Bryn Athyn (Bryn Athyn 3-1| 23-25, 19-25, 25-17, 18-25)
  • In the first set, Immaculata jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead on kills by Calissa Araujo, and Mel Mann. Bryn Athyn would use a pair of four-point runs as they built a lead to 18-14. Immaculata would battle back with a four-point run that included a pair of kills from Mia Esposito to close Bryn Athyn's lead to 22-21. Bryn Athyn would hold on to take set on 25-23.
  • In set two, Alayah Phifer had a service ace, and Jenna Bozzo got a kill to give Immaculata an early 3-2 lead. Bryan Athyn would have a pair of four-point runs and a five-point run as they took set two 25-19.
  • In set three Bryn Athyn took an earl 8-3 lead. Following a side out, Lauren Ladik served four consecutive points including two service aces, and a pair of kills from Mel Mann as Immaculata tied the score at 8-8. With Immaculata holding a 18-16 lead, Cianni Baez served six consecutive points. Baez had a service ace, and Alayah Phifer had three kills during the run. Immaculata would take set three 25-17 on a kill from Eliana Szatkowski.
  • In set four, Bryn Athyn built jumped out to early 9-2 lead. The Lions would go on to take set four, and close out the match 25-18.

How it Happened vs Dickinson (Dickinson 3-0| 2-25, 14-25, 17-25)
  • Dickinson took an early 3-0 lead. Immaculata made the score 5-2 on a kill by Calissa Araujo. Dickson would then go on a 20-point run fueled by the serve of Alexa Barowski who served 19 consecutive points as the Red Devils took set one 25-2.
  • In the second set, Immaculata took an early 2-1 lead on a kill by Mel Mann. Calissa Araujo would add three more kills, and Immaculata would get additional kills from Eliana Szatkowski, Alayah Phifer, and Mel Mann in the second set. Dickinson would take set two 25-14.
  • In set three, Dickinson went up 3-0 early. Immaculata would go on a four-point run that included a combined block by Mia Esposito and Mel Mann, and a kill by Mia Esposito to take a 4-3 lead. Immaculata would get additional kills from Calissa Araujo and Mel Mann, and service aces from Mia Esposito and Cianni Baez. Dickinson would close out the match win, taking set three 25-17.
