Women's Soccer Turns in Clean Sheet at Rosemont

ROSEMONT, Pa.- The Immaculata University women's soccer team needed only a 13th minute goal to defeat Rosemont College 1-0 on Wednesday afternoon. The Mighty Macs maintained the upper hand throughout the contest, outshooting the Ravens 25-4 in the match. Immaculata picks up their second road win of the season and improves to 3-4-1 on the year.

How It Happened
  • Immaculata wasted no time putting pressure on the Ravens, as Rachel McNamee and Carly Coleman generated shots before the three minute mark.
  • Savanna Crowding, McNamee, and Gabby Palladino each attempted shots in the eighth minute of play just before the Mighty Macs drew their first corner kick of the game.
  • Immaculata played through the middle of their formation to get on the board at the 12:04 mark. The Mighty Macs fielded a punt inside the semi circle before using a header for a give and go pass. From the center spot, Immaculata led Rachel McNamee for a one-on-one opportunity against the Ravens' keeper, as she slipped a right footed shot inside the left post.
  • The Mighty Macs' defense did not allow a shot until the 27th minute, where Emily Guthier made a save to her left.
  • Immaculata created four more shots and two more corners before halftime, but none would be realized as the Macs entered the break with a 1-0 lead.
  • The Mighty Macs collected a 55th minute corner that fed shots in succession from Savanna Crowding and Marissa Birmingham.
  • The Ravens fought for the equalizer midway through the second half, as a shot from Cassidy Smith led to a pair of Rosemont corner kicks.
  • Immaculata tightened up late, allowing no shots after the 65th minute.
  • The Mighty Macs garnered five more shot attempts before finalizing up their 1-0 victory.
