Mighty Macs Drop Midweek Contest to Widener

CHESTER, Pa.- The Immaculata field hockey team (4-3, 0-0 AEC) fell to Widener 2-0 in a non-conference road game on Wednesday evening.  

The Mighty Macs were outshot 21-2, with Widener putting nine of their attempts goal. The Pride had 12 penalty corners, while the Mighty Macs were held to one. 

How It Happened 

  • Widener quickly went on offense early and opened the scoring in the game's sixth minute when Kailey Armstrong converted a penalty stroke to give the Pride a 1-0. 

  • Widener would generate five additional shots in the quarter. Julia Levase made three saves in the quarter as Widener led 1-0 after the first quarter. 

  • Widener would double their lead in the second quarter when Karly Bevinchak scored in the game's 17th minute to give the Pride a 2-0 lead. 

  • Julia Levase would make a save, and another Widener shot hit the post as the Pride held a 2-0 lead at the halftime break. 

  • Immaculata came out aggressively in the third quarter earning their only penalty corner of the night in the game's 36th minute that resulted in a shot on goal by Alexis Andrada that was saved. Della George had a later shot that was blocked by a Pride defender. 

  • The third and fourth quarters saw both teams playing great defense. Julia Levase made three saves in the second half of the game to keep the score at 2-0. 

  • The Pride would go on to close out the 2-0 win. 

Inside the Numbers 

  • Della George had one shot and was a strong presence on both ends of the field for Immaculata. 

  • Julie Levase had seven saves. 

  • Immaculata successfully defended all 12 Widener penalty corners.

  • The Immaculata field hockey team will be back in action on Saturday, September 21st when they travel to play at Lebanon Valley College. Game time is at 1:00 pm.
