Women's Soccer Hosts New Jersey City University at Draper Walsh Stadium this Afternoon

IMMACULATA, Pa.- The Immaculata University women's soccer team (2-3-0) will be back in action this afternoon when they host New Jersey City University at Draper Walsh Stadium at 4:00 pm. This will be the first time the two schools have played each other in women's soccer.

SERIES HISTORY
  • This will be the first meeting between the two schools in women's soccer.
IMMACULATA NOTES
  • Immaculata enters todays match having lost their past two games at Wilson 2-0 on September 7th, and at Eastern 3-1 on September 10th.
  • Gabby Palladino scored the Mighty Mac's lone goal against Eastern in the 11th when she headed a corner kick from Sam Terry into the net. Palladino currently is second in the team in scoring with a goal and an assist.
  • Sam Terry has two assists on the year, both coming on corner kicks. She had an assist on the game winner in the season opener at Bryn Athyn, and again on Palladino's goal against Eastern.
  • Rachel McNamee is the Mighty Macs leading scorer with three goals.
  • Kelsey Caldarelli (one goal), Carly Coleman (one goal), and Savanna Crowding will be counted on to play big roles in this match.
  • On the defensive side, Marissa Birmingham, Janelle Kern, and Samantha Seidito will anchor the defensive unit for Immaculata.
  • Emily Guthier has been strong in goal for Immaculata. She has played every game so far this season. Guthier had a career high 11 saves vs Eastern, and battle through physical contact from the Eagles' players to keep the Mighty Macs in the game until Eastern scored late.
 
SCOUTING NEW JERSEY CITY
  • The Knights are off to a 1-0-3 start to the 2024 season. After defeating Purchase College in their season opener 6-0, the Knights tied Eastern 1-1, Manhattanville 1-1, and John Jay 2-2.
  • Freshmen midfielder Gabriella Cardona leads the Knights with four goals.
  • Fifth year senior Kim Brites has two goals and two assists.
  • Junior midfielder Nyrohah Alvarenga has one goal and two assists.
  • Junior goalkeeper Sophia Mannino has played all four games for the Knights going 1-0-3 with eight saves. Was named to the All-NJAC First Team in 2023.
  • New Jersey City is averaging 2.5 goals per game and are averaging 1.00 goals against per game. They are averaging 22 shots per game and are yielding an average of 4.8 shots per game.
