Women's Soccer Comes From Behind to Defeat Bryn Athyn in Season Opener 2-1

BRYN ATHYN, Pa.- The Immaculata women's soccer team (1-0, 0-0 AEC) scored a pair of goals in the second half to come from behind to defeat Bryn Athyn 2-1 in their season opening match on the road Friday evening.

The win gave Immaculata head coach Ashley Ainsworth her first collegiate win in her NCAA coaching debut.

How it Happened
  • The teams battled through a scoreless first half. Bryn Athyn came close to scoring in the games ninth minute hit the left post.
  • Emily Guthier had four saves in the first half for Immaculata.
  • Bryn Athyn opened the scoring in the 46th minute when Kira Bradley scored to give the Lions a 1-0 lead.
  • Rachel McNamee scored with a goal in the game's 58th minute on a twenty-yard shot from just outside the penalty area to level the score at 1-1.
  • Carly Coleman scored on a header off a corner kick by Sam Terry to give Immaculata a 2-1 lead.
  • Emily Guthier made a save on a shot from Hailey Magilton in the games 90th minute as Immaculata closed out the 2-1 victory.
