Manion Reaches Milestone as Macs Fall to Marymount in Atlantic East Conference Opener

IMMACULATA, Pa.- The Immaculata University men's lacrosse team returned to action on Wednesday afternoon as they hosted Marymount University in their Atlantic East Conference opener at Draper Walsh Stadium. Immaculata had its four-game winning streak snapped falling to Marymount 20-12 in a game that featured a one hour and sixteen-minute delay due to lightning.

In the first quarter, Marymount jumped out to a quick start scoring the game's first four goals to take a 4-0 lead. With 1:03 remaining in the first quarter, lightning halted the action.

When the team's returned to the field, the first quarter ended with Marymount leading 4-0.

David Azzarano got Immaculata on the board with 12:49 remaining in the second quarter. Bailey Manion scored with 10:49 remaining in the quarter to cut the Marymount lead to 4-2. Bailey Manion would score his second goal of the game with 7:49 remaining in the quarter on an assist from David Azzarano. The goal was Baily Manion's 100th career goal, making him just the second player in Immaculata program history to reach the 100-career goal plateau. After a pair of goals from Marymount, Connor Teears scored to cut the Marymount lead to 6-4 going into the halftime break.

In the third quarter, Ben Wesolowski scored early to pull Immaculata within one goal with 13:53 remaining in the quarter. Nicholas DeFilippo tied the score at 6-6 with a goal 0:45 later on an assist from David Azzarano. Marymount responded with a goal to regain the lead at 7-6. David Azzarano then tied the score at 7-7 with a goal with 8:10 remaining in the quarter, and Ben Wesolowski scored to put Immaculata ahead 8-7, but Immaculata was whistled for excessive celebration that gave Marymount a free clear. Marymount would score five unanswered goals to take a 12-8 lead. Ben Wesolowski would score his third goal of the quarter with 1:13 remaining on and assist from David Azzarano as Marymount led 12-9 after three quarters of play.

In the fourth quarter, Joseph Biuso scored on a man up goal off an assist from Ryan Gorman, and David Azzarano and Ryan Gorman scored to pull Immaculata within two goals at 14-12. Marymount would score the final six goals of the game to take the game 20-12.

Immaculata was led offensively by David Azzarano with three goals and four assists with seven ground balls and two caused turnovers. Ben Wesolowski with three goals, Ryan Gorman with a goal and two assists, and Bailey Manion with two goals.
Matthew Ludlow had 18 saves in goal and had seven ground balls.
