IMMACULATA, Pa.- The Immaculata University men's volleyball team was back in action on Friday night hosting St. Elizabeth's University at Alumnae Hall. Immaculata fell to Saint Elizabeth's 3-2 in a five-set heartbreaker.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
Josh McGurl led Immaculata tonight with 16 kills, and 11 digs.
Michael Prall had seven kills, and four digs.
Jack Debes had five kills, two total blocks, and five digs.
Brandon Fox had four kills, two service aces, two total blocks, and two digs.
Joe Martell had three kills, distributed 30 assists, had two service aces, and six digs.
Matthew Pfister had a team high 14 digs.
HOW IT HAPPENED
In the first set, Saint Elizabeth's used a pair of three-point runs to open a 12-5 lead. Immaculata would cut the lead down to 16-12 on a service ace by
Jack Debes. Saint Elizabeth's responded with another three-point run on their way to taking the first set 25-17.
In set two, Immaculata was trailing 16-13 when the earned a side out on a kill by
Josh McGurl.
Brandon Fox then served three consecutive points that included a pair of kills from
Michael Prall and
Josh McGurl to put Immaculata ahead 17-16. With the score tied at 23-23,
Jack Debes put Immaculata ahead with a kill, and
Brandon Fox served an ace to give Immaculata the second set 25-23.
In set three, Immaculata opened an early 3-1 lead. Saint Elizabeth's would respond, with a pair of four-point runs on their way to taking set three 25-19.
Immaculata responded early in set four as
Joe Martell served four consecutive points that included a service ace and a kill from
Josh McGurl as Immaculata opened a 4-0 lead. Trailing 18-17,
Brandon Fox earned a side out on a kill to tie the score at 18-18.
Ethan Ngo served consecutive points to put Immaculata up 20-18.
Joe Martell served the final two points as Immaculata forced a deciding set winning set four 25-20.
In set five, Saint Elizabeth's jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead. Trailing 9-6, Immaculata earned a side out on a kill from
Josh McGurl.
Brandon Fox then served consecutive points including a service ace as Immaculata tied the score at 9-9. The teams exchanged points, and
Joe Martell helped Immaculata hold off a match point with a kill to make the score 14-13. Saint Elizabeth's would close out the match taking set five 15-13, and the match 3-2.

th when they host Bryn Athyn College for their final home match of the season at Alumnae Hall for Senior Night at 7:00 PM.
