Men's Lacrosse Wins Home Opener defeating Alvernia 12-3

IMMACULATA, Pa.- The Immaculata University men's lacrosse team defeated Alvernia University 12-3 in their home opener on Wednesday evening.

Ryan Gorman led Immaculata with three goals, on seven shots, five shots on goal, and added three groundballs. Ben Wesolowski scored two goals, added one assist, one groundball, and two caused turnovers. Bailey Manion, and Nicholas DeFilippo each scored two goals. Joseph Biuso, Connor Teears, and Robbie Wishart each scored one goal apiece. David Azzarano had two assists, and two groundballs.

On the defensive side, goalkeeper Matthew Ludlow earned the win, making 10 saves, and collected eight groundballs in 57:50 minutes of playing time. Goalkeeper Max Cummings made two saves and collected one groundball in 2:10 of playing time.

In the first quarter, Immaculata opened a quick 3-0 on goals by Ryan Gorman, Ben Wesolowski, and Connor Teears. Nicholas DeFilippo scored later in the quarter, as Immaculata led 4-1 after the first quarter.

In the second quarter, Nicholas DeFilippo scored twice, and Bailey Manion scored for the Mighty Macs. David Azzarano had an assist, as the Macs took a 6-2 into the halftime break.

Immaculata would score all four goals in the third quarter. Robbie Wishart, Joseph Biuso, Ben Wesolowski, and Ryan Goram all found the back of the net for the Mighty Macs. David Azzarono and Aidan Lawrence each added assists as the Macs led 10-2 after three quarters of play.

Ryan Gorman, and Bailey Manion each scored in the fourth quarter, and Liam Frazier added an assist as Immaculata closed out the win 12-3.

The Immaculata University men's lacrosse team (2-1, 0-0 Atlantic East) will be back in action on Wednesday, March 6th when they travel to play at Susquehanna University at 4:00 PM.
