Mighty Macs Secure Second Seed with Win over Neumann

ASTON, Pa.- The Immaculata University women's basketball team survived a late charge by Neumann but held on to earn the 72-67 win on Friday night at Neumann. With the win, Immaculata concludes their regular season in second place in the Atlantic East Conference and will earn the first-round bye in next week's Atlantic East Conference tournament. Immaculata will host their semifinal game on Wednesday, February 21st at Alumnae Hall. 

Immaculata was led by Reese Mullins with 21 points, five rebounds, and one steal. Abigail Lentowski had 19 points, eight rebounds, and two blocks. She currently stands at 992 career points. Tessa Liberatoscioli had 13 points, three rebounds, six assists, one block, and five steals. Liberatoscioli now has an Atlantic East Conference record 101 steals on the season. Abigail Boyer had seven points, and three steals for the Mighty Macs. 

In the first quarter, Immaculata opened the scoring on a layup by Abigail Lentowski. Lentowski would score six points early as Immaculata built an 8-2 lead with 6:26 remaining in the quarter. Reese Mullins hit a three-pointer with 2:43 remaining to put Immaculata ahead 15-10. Immaculata would lead 17-16 at the end of the first quarter. 

In the second quarter, Immaculata scored on a layup by Morgan Falcone to lead 31-22 with 5:55 remaining. Tessa Liberatoscioli, Olivia Ettorre, Reese Mullins, and Abigail Lentowski would all score as Immaculata would take a 44-31 lead into the halftime break. 

In the third quarter, Abigail Lentowski scored six points, and Reese Mullins scored five points for Immaculata. The Mighty Macs would lead 64-47 after three quarters. 

In the fourth quarter, Neumann would not go quietly and opened the quarter on a 6-1 run. Immaculata broke that run on a layup by Abigail Boyer. Neumann kept chipping away and closed the Immaculata lead to 70-67 with 0:22 remaining. Reese Mullins would ice the game for Immaculata with a pair of free throws to give the Macs the 72-67 win.

The Immaculata University women's basketball team (15-10, 7-3 Atlantic East) has concluded their regular season as the second seed in the Atlantic East Conference Tournament. They will host their Atlantic East Conference Semifinal at Alumnae Hall on Wednesday, February 21st at 7:00 PM.  Immaculata will host the highest remaining seed after the Quarterfinal round.
