Four Mighty Macs Score in Double Figures as Women's Basketball Defeats St. Mary's of Maryland

IMMACULATA, Pa.- The Immaculata women's basketball team returned to Alumnae Hall hosting St. Mary's College of Maryland in a non-conference game on Tuesday afternoon. The Mighty Macs defeated the Seahawks 81-75.

Reese Mullins scored 19 points, Olivia Ettorre scored 15 points, Abigail Boyer scored 14 points, and Carly Coleman scored 11 points to lead the Mighty Macs.

With the win, Immaculata moves to 8-3 on the season. With the loss St. Mary's of Maryland falls to 6-5 overall, the Seahawks are 3-0 in United East Conference play.

How it Happened
  • Immaculata jumped out to quick 8-0 lead behind a layup from Carly Coleman, and three-pointers from Tessa Liberatoscioli and Abigail Boyer. Immaculata led 22-16 after the first quarter. Immaculata had success driving the basket and shooting from mid-range. Reese Mullins led Immaculata with six first quarter points, and Carly Coleman and Olivia Ettorre each scored four points.
  • In the second quarter, St. Mary's got an early three-pointer and a layup to cut the Immaculata to 21-20 with 9:31 remaining. Carly Coleman responded for Immaculata with consecutive layups to extend Immaculata's lead to 26-21. The Seahawks used an 18-6 run to open a six-point lead at 38-32 with 3:50 remaining in the second quarter. Meg Robbins hit a pair of free throws, Olivia Ettorre hit a three pointer, and Riley Cassidy hit a jumper to pull Immaculata back within one point at 30-39 with 2:16 remaining. Reese Mullins scored on a layup, Alyssa Long hit a jumper, and Carly Coleman hit a pair of free throws to send Immaculata to the halftime break leading 45-40.
  • St. Mary's of Md. came out quick in the third quarter scoring three quick baskets to take a 46-45 lead. Olivia Ettorre hit a jump shot to put Immaculata back up 47-46. Abigail Boyer would follow with a three-pointer, then fed Meg Robbins for a driving layup. Robbins completed the three-point play hitting the and one to increase Immaculata's lead to 53-46. Robbins would add another layup, and Abigail Boyer hit another three pointer as immaculata would take a 62-57 lead into the fourth quarter.
  • In the fourth quarter, St. Mary's of Md. tied the score at 64-64 with 5:54 remaining. Olivia Ettorre hit a jumper to restore Immaculata's lead at 66-64. Abigail Boyer followed with a three pointer, then Reese Mullins hit a jumper and a three-pointer to extend Immaculata's lead to 74-66. The Seahawks would not go quietly cutting the Immaculata lead to 79-75 with 0:19 remaining. Olivia Ettorre would ice the game for Immaculata hitting a pair of free throws, and Alyssa Long got a late steal as Immaculata closed out the win 81-75.
