IMMACULATA, Pa.- Kelsey Caldarelli scored with 3:21 remaining in the second overtime period to lift Immaculata to a 2-1 win over Gwynedd Mercy in their Atlantic East Conference Tournament First Round game on Saturday at Draper Walsh Stadium.
Gabby Palladino got the assist on Caldarelli's golden goal.
Immaculata trailed 1-0 after the first half. Immaculata tied the score in the game's 67th minute as
Savanna Crowding scored off an assist from
Rachel McNamee.
With the win, Immaculata will advance to the Atlantic East Conference Semifinals on Wednesday, November 6
th at no. 1 seed Marywood.
How it Happened
- Gwynedd Mercy opened the scoring in the game's ninth minute when Natalie Morris scored her seventh goal of the season.
- Gwynedd Mercy would take the 1-0 lead into the halftime break. Immaculata out shot Gwynedd Mercy 15-5 in the half, with an 8-2 advantage in shots on goal.
- Immaculata would tie the score in the game's 67th minute when Rachel McNamee's cross found Savanna Crowding in the box, who knocked in her third goal of season to make the score 1-1.
- Neither team could find a winner in regulation, and the game moved to overtime.
- Immaculata dominated the first overtime but were unable to score. Rachel McNamee's long lofting shot hit the crossbar in the game's 98th minute.
- Gwynedd Mercy controlled the play early in the second overtime, and narrowly ended the game when Bethany Beinlich's shot caught the crossbar in the game's 105th minute.
- Emily Guthier made a big save for the Mighty Macs in the 106th minute to keep the Macs alive.
- In the game's 107th minute Rachel McNamee played a ball ahead that Gabby Palladino ran down, Palladino played to ball to the middle to Kelsey Caldarelli who calmly deposited the ball off the right side post and into the goal to win the game for Immaculata.
