Women's Soccer Falls to Marywood 4-0 in Hard Fought AEC Semifinal

SCRANTON, Pa. -The Immaculata women's soccer team fell to no. 1 seed Marywood 4-0 in the Atlantic East Conference Semifinals on Wednesday night. 

Immaculata fought hard the entire match. Marywood took a 3-0 lead into the halftime break. Immaculata limited Marywood to only one goal in the second half on a penalty kick. 

Congratulations to Immaculata seniors Kelsey Caldarelli, Janelle Kern, Brianna Latham, Rachel McNamee, and Maddy Trainor on their careers at Immaculata, and we wish them all the best in their futures. 

How it Happened 

  • The game remained scoreless until the ninth minute when Marywood opened the scoring to take a 1-0 lead. 

  • Marywood extended their lead to 2-0 in the 37th minute. 

  • Marywood added a third goal late in the half in the 44th minute to take a 3-0 lead into the halftime break. 

  • Marywood outshot Immaculata 11-3 in the first half. 

  • Marywood continued to press the Immaculata in the second half taking 17 shot attempts. 

  • Marywood was able to add a fourth goal in the game's 56th minute on a penalty kick. 

  • Marywood closed out the 4-0 win.
