BETHLEHEM, Pa.- The Immaculata women's basketball team (1-1) was back in action in Bethlehem when they took on Moravian. Immaculata fell to Moravian 66-65 in overtime.
Olivia Ettorre, Reese Mullins, Riley Cassidy, and Carly Coleman all scored in double figures for the Mighty Macs.
How it Happened
Moravian opened the scoring with an early bucket. Tessa Liberatoscioli got the Mighty Macs on the board with a layup. Olivia Ettorre made a jump shot to give Immaculata an early 4-2 lead. Abigail Boyer gave Immaculata a 9-4 lead with a three-pointer with 4:55 remaining in the quarter. Tessa Liberatoscioli hit free throws for Immaculata. Riley Mullen hit a three-pointer with O:14 with O:14 remaining in the quarter as Immaculata led 17-7 after the first quarter.
In the second quarter Moravian cut the lead to 17-10. Tessa Liberatoscioli made a layup with 7:47 remaining in the quarter to extend Immaculata's lead to 19-10. Riley Cassidy hit a pair of three-pointers to extend the lead to 29-18. Immaculata would take a 30-20 lead into the halftime break.
Riley Cassidy led all scorers with nine points in the first half. Tessa Liberatoscioli scored six points, and Olivia Ettorre had five points.
In the third quarter, Reese Mullins hit a pair of free throws to grow Immaculata's lead to 38-24. The Greyhounds responded with three- three-pointers to cut the lead to 40-37. Abigail Boyer hit a free throw late to send the game to the game to the fourth quarter with Immaculata leading 41-37.
In the fourth quarter, the teams exchanged baskets early. Riley Cassidy hit a jumper to put Immaculata ahead 49-46 with 4:20 remaining. Moravian came back with a three-pointer a minute later to tie the game. Reese Mullins, Olvia Ettorre, and Carly Coleman all scored to put Immaculata up 56-53. Moravian was able to force overtime with a three-pointer with 1:27 remaining.
In overtime, Moravian took a quick lead four-point lead, but Immaculata responded with a layup and a three-pointer by Olivia Ettorre to tie the score at 61-61. Moravian hit a free throw to go up 62-61. Alyssa Long and Carly Coleman each hit one of two from the free- throw line to put Immaculata up 63-62. After Moravian scored on a layup, Abigail Boyer put Immaculata up 65-64 with two free throws. Moravian drew a foul of their own and took the lead 66-65 late. Olivia Ettorre's shot attempt at the buzzer did not fall, as the Greyhounds closed out the win 66-65.
