THE STORYLINE
  • The Immaculata Field Hockey Team (9-8, 3-1 AEC) completed their best season in modern program history finishing in second place in the Atlantic East Conference. Immaculata the no. 2 seed will host no. 3 seed Gwynedd Mercy in the Atlantic East Conference Semifinals on Saturday.
  • Immaculata, who will be appearing in semifinals for a third straight season, enters Saturday's match after defeating Neumann 1-0 in overtime on Maria Berenato's goal on Wednesday in their regular season finale.
  • Gwynedd Mercy (4-13, 2-2 AEC) enters Saturday's Semifinal after defeating Manhattanville 4-2 in their regular season finale to secure the third seed.
THE SERIES
  • Immaculata and Gwynedd Mercy are meeting for the 35th time in their series that began back in 1997.
  • Immaculata is 5-29 all-time vs Gwynedd Mercy.
  • The two schools are meeting in the playoffs for a third straight season. Immaculata defeated Gwynedd Mercy 1-0 in overtime in 2023, and 1-0 in a shootout in 2022.
THEIR LAST MEETING MIGHTY MAC NOTES
  • Freshman Alexis Andrada with nine goals and one assist for 19 points led Immaculata in scoring this season. Her nine goals were a program record for goals in a season as a freshman, and she is one point behind the record of points in a season by a freshman that is 20.
  • Senior Della George has been Immaculata's best player all season with three goals and a team high seven assists. George had the assist on Immaculata's overtime game winner vs Neumann on Wednesday. George is a strong presence on both sides of the field for the Mighty Macs.
  • Sophomore Kailey Mayoros scored five goals this season, including tying a program record by scoring goals in four consecutive games.
  • Sophomore Emilyn Bivens has registered two goals and one assist.
  • Sophomore Maria Berenato has had points in consecutive games assisting on a goal for Mayoros in the game vs Gwynedd Mercy on October 23rd, then scoring the overtime game winner vs Neumann on Wednesday for her first collegiate goal.
  • Immaculata will look for additional offense in the playoffs from junior Gabrielle O'Brien and senior Rory Watson who have each scored one goal this season.
  • Immaculata has gotten strong play in their midfield from junior Abby Fekete and sophomore Jillian Vandenbraak.
  • The Immaculata defensive core of Madalyn Bonner, Kaitlin Gale, Stephanie Webb, Rachel Madden, Della George, and Rory Watson have done an excellent job of limiting opportunities for their opponents.
  • Julia Levase broke her own program record for shutouts in a season, with her sixth shutout of the season on Wednesday at Neumann. Levase has a 1.43 goals-against average. For her career Levase is the program record holder for shutouts with 16, and career wins with 25.
  • Immaculata who will be hosting a Semifinal at home for the first time in the modern program era, is 4-3 at Draper Walsh Stadium this season.
SCOUTING GWYNEDD MERCY
  • Senior midfielder Laura Filchner with eight goals and three assists, junior forward Mackenzie Reed with nine goals and one assist, and sophomore forward Leany Santana with four goals and one assist lead the Griffins offense.
  • Senior forward Ashley Berry has one goal, and four assists and sophomore midfielder Lillie Uttenreither has one goal and three assists.
  • Senior Morgan Lawless is 3-5 with 3.06 goals-against average with three shutouts, and freshman Kelly Weaver with 1-8 with a 3.02 goals-against average have split time in goal this season for Gwynedd Mercy.
  • Gwynedd Mercy is averaging 9.5 shots per game, and their opponents are averaging 15.2 shots per game.
  • Gwynedd Mercy is 2-6 on the road this season.
