Bivens and O'Brien Score to Lift Macs to a 2-1 Victory over Goucher

BALTIMORE, Md.- The immaculata field hockey team (5-7) got back in the win column defeating Goucher 2-1 on Tuesday evening in Baltimore in their final non-conference tune up before opening Atlantic East Conference play on Saturday.  

Emilyn Bivens and Gabrielle O'Brien each scored a goal, and Julia Levase made seven saves in goal to help lead the Mighty Macs to victory. 

How it Happened 

  • Emilyn Bivens got Immaculata started in the ninth minute with a shot on goal that was stopped Goucher goalkeeper Katie Bloom. 

  • Immaculata opened the scoring in the tenth minute when Emilyn Bivens scored her second goal of the season that was assisted by Alexis Andrada to end the Immaculata dry spell and give the Mighty Macs the 1-0 lead. 

  • Julia Levase made a save late in the first quarter as Immaculata led 1-0 after the first quarter of play. 

  • In the 20th minute Gabrielle O'Brien scored her first goal of the season to extend the Immaculata lead to 2-0. 

  • Julia Levase made three saves in the second quarter as Immaculata led 2-0 at halftime. 

  • In the 41st minute Goucher cut the Immaculata lead to 2-1 with a goal by Zoe Mikles. 

  • Madalyn Bonner had two defensive saves in the third quarter to help Immaculata maintain its lead. 

  • In the fourth quarter, Immaculata successfully defended four Goucher penalty corners including three in the final minute of play to earn the 2-1 win.

  • Immaculata successfully defended 13-out of-14 Goucher penalty corners.

  • The Immaculata field hockey team will be back in action on Saturday, October 12th when they open Atlantic East Conference when they host Manhattanville at Draper Walsh Stadium at 11:00 am.
