Macs Claim Senior Day Dub, Andrada Ties Freshman Record

IMMACULATA, Pa.- The Immaculata field hockey team (6-7, 1-0 AEC) won their second game this week, defeating Manhattanville 2-0 their Atlantic East Conference opener on Saturday at Draper Walsh Stadium.

Alexis Andrada scored in the ninth minute to give the Mighty Macs the lead for good on an Assist from Della George. The goal was Andrada's eighth goal of the season tying the IU field hockey record for goals in a season by a freshman. Kailey Mayoros added a goal in the fourth quarter for the Macs.

Senior Day How it Happened
  • Immaculata got things going in the second minute of play when Stephanie Webb registered the first shot on goal that was saved by Manhattanville goalkeeper Hannah Doherty.
  • Alexis Andrada got Immaculata on the board in the ninth minute when she scored her eighth goal of the season on an assist from Della George.
  • Immaculata kept the pressure on the Manhattanville goal in the second quarter generating seven shots but were unable to score and the game remained 1-0 Immaculata at the half.
  • Manhattanville registered their first shot on goal in the 33rd minute, when Keira Guinan shot was saved by Julia Levase.
  • In the fourth quarter, Kailey Mayoros scored her second goal of the season in the game's 46th minute to give Immaculata a 2-0 lead.
  • Julia Levase made a save in the game's 58th minute, and the Immaculata defense led by Madalyn Bonner closed out the 2-0 win.
Inside the Numbers
  • Alexis Andrada scored her eighth goal the season. With eight goals Andrada has now tied Ashely O'Donnell's program record for most goals in a season with eight that was set in 2011.  With 17 points Andrada is now just three points behind O'Donnell's program record of points in a season for a freshman with 20 in 2011. *IU field hockey program records are official circa 2000.
  • Della George assisted on Andrada's goal with her team high fifth assist. George is a strong presence on Immaculata's offensive and defensive sides.
  • Kailey Mayoros scored her second goal of the season early in the fourth quarter to provide some insurance for the Mighty Macs.
  • Julia Levase made two saves in goal for her third shutout of the season, and the 13th of her Immaculata career adding to her program record total.
  • The Immaculata defensive core of Madalyn Bonner, Kaitlin Gale, Rachel Madden, Rory Watson, and Della George limited Manhattanville's opportunities with just five shots, with two on goal, and only one penalty corner.
