Field Hockey Takes on Goucher in Baltimore on Tuesday Evening

THE STORYLINE
  • Immaculata (4-7) is back in action on Tuesday, October 8th, when they travel to Baltimore to play Goucher College. Immaculata will be looking to get back on track at Goucher in their final non-conference game before opening Atlantic East Conference play on Saturday.
  • Immaculata enters Tuesday's contest after falling at Kean in a hard fought 1-0 loss on Saturday.
  • Goucher (6-5, 1-2 Landmark) enters Tuesday's game after dropping a Landmark Conference game to Juniata 2-1 on October 5th. The Gophers have lost their last four games.
THE SERIES
  • These two schools will be meeting for the 10th time in their series that began in 2010.
  • Immaculata is 2-7 all-time vs Goucher.
 
THEIR LAST MEETING
  • Goucher defeated Immaculata 6-3 in their last meeting on September 25, 2018, at Goucher. Willa Thompson, Hillary Burkholder, and current IU Assistant Coach Layne Kennedy all scored goals for the Mighty Macs.
  • Immaculata's last win in the series was on September 5, 2013, when the Mighty Macs defeated the Eagles 2-1 at Draper Walsh Stadium. Tiffany Lockfield and Patsy Murphy scored for the Mighty Macs.
 
MIGHTY MAC NOTES
  • Julia Levase was strong in goal for Immaculata making a combined 17 saves in Immaculata's two games last week. Levase made nine saves vs Stockton on October 2nd and made eight saves vs Kean on October 5th to help keep the Mighty Macs in the game.
  • Immaculata is working to snap a long dry spell on the offensive end.
  • Della George had the Mighty Macs best chance to score vs Kean getting a shot on goal off a penalty corner she inserted the shot was saved by the Kean goalkeeper.
  • Alexis Andrada had four shots in the game vs Stockton, with one on goal. She hit the post in the fourth quarter with a reverse backhand shot that had the Osprey's goalkeeper beat.
  • The Immaculata defense was able to successfully defend seven of eight penalty corners vs Kean on Saturday.
  • Immaculata will be looking to veteran players including Della George, Gabrielle O'Brien, Abby Fekete, Kaitlin Gale, Madalyn Bonner, and Rachel Madden to help the team get on track for conference play later this week.
  • Immaculata is averaging eight shots per game, and their opponents are averaging 15.7 shots per game.
 
SCOUTING GOUCHER
  • Senior forward Kaitlyn Bucci leads Goucher's offense with eight goals and two assists. First year Annie Bennett has six goals and one assist.
  • Sophomore Julia Bennett has three goals, and sophomore Charlotte Bloom has two goals.
  • Sophomore forward Madison Usher has one goal and two assists, and senior defender Zoe Mikles has one goal and one assist.
  • Sophomore goalkeeper Katie Bloom has started 11 games and is 5-2, with 1.74 goals against average, with 56 saves, and two shutouts.
  • The Gophers are averaging 17.5 shots per game.
 
WEEKLY HONORS
  • Julia Levase was named to the Atlantic East Conference Field Hockey Weekly Honor Roll on Monday afternoon after making a combined 17 saves in Immaculata's two games last week.
