Field Hockey Heads to Neumann for AEC Regular Season Finale on Wednesday

THE STORYLINE
  • The Immaculata Field Hockey Team (8-8, 2-1 AEC) is back in action on Wednesday when they visit Neumann University for their final regular season game at 4:00 pm.
  • Immaculata enters Wednesday game after defeating Gwynedd Mercy 3-0 on October 23rd. Immaculata has secured the 2nd seed in the Atlantic East Conference Tournament.
  • Neumann (4-11, 0-3 AEC) enters Wednesday's game after falling to Manhattanville 1-0 on Saturday at Manhattanville.
THE SERIES
  • This will be the 22nd meeting between these two schools in their series that began in 2004.
  • Immaculata is 8-13 all-time vs Neumann. Immaculata has won the last four meetings.
THEIR LAST MEETING
  • Immaculata defeated Neumann 1-0 in double overtime in their last meeting on October 14, 2023, at Draper Walsh Stadium.
  • Della George scored the game winner on an assist from Lauren Vandenbraak with 0:24 remaining in the second overtime period. Julia Levase had six saves in goal for the Mighty Macs.
MIGHTY MAC NOTES
  • Alexis Andrada scored her ninth goal of the season vs Gwynedd Mercy to break the IU field hockey program record for goals in a season passing Ashley O'Donnell's mark of 8 set in 2011. Andrada, who has 19 points, is one point behind O'Donnell freshman record of 20 points in a season also set in 2011.
  • Kailey Mayoros has scored goals in four consecutive games for the Mighty Macs to tie an IU field hockey program record for goals in consecutive games. Mayoros now shares the record with Megan Donegan who accomplished this in 2017, and Hilliary Burkholder who scored in four straight games in 2018.
  • Della George had her team high sixth assist against Gwynedd Mercy. George continues to lead Immaculata with strong play on each end of the field, helping the Immaculata defense limit Gwynedd Mercy's opportunities.
  • The Immaculata defensive core of Madalyn Bonner, Stephanie Webb, Kaitlin Gale, Rory Watson, and Rachel Madden limited Gwynedd Mercy to only two shots on goal and only three penalty corners. Immaculata has six shutouts this season.
  • Abby Fekete scored her first goal of the season vs Gwynedd Mercy in the fifth minute. Fekete was a strong presence in the midfield for Immaculata helping to stifle the Griffins attack.
  • Emilyn Bivens assisted Fekete's goal and continued her strong play for the Mighty Macs. Bivens had two shots, and one on goal.
  • Maria Berenato fed a perfect pass that Kailey Mayoros tapped in for her goal. The assist was the first collegiate assist and point for Berenato.  
  • Julia Levase made two saves to secure her fifth shutout of the season. Levase now has 15 career shutouts. With her fifth shutout of the season, Levase has tied her own program record for shutouts in a season with five she set in 2023.
SCOUTING NEUMANN
  • First-year forward Gabriella Cappelli with seven goals, senior midfielder Elle Smith with five goals and three assists, and first-year forward Meghan Sheldrick with five goals lead Neumann's offense.
  • Sophomore forward Cadence Conti with four goals and one assist first-year midfielder Casey McGee with one goal and three assists, and sophomore midfielder Natalie Zoffer with three assists figure into the Knight's attack as well.
  • Senior goalkeeper Emma Schneider has started ten games and is 3-8 with 2.44 goals against average.
  • Sophomore goalkeeper Caley Gee has started five games and is 1-3 with 2.77 goals against average with one shutout.
  • As a team Neumann is averaging 12.8 shots per game, and their opponents are averaging 15.3 shots per game.
 
WEEKLY HONORS
  • Kailey Mayoros and Della George were named to the Atlantic East Conference Field Hockey Weekly Honor Roll on Monday afternoon.
  • Kailey Mayoros scored her fifth goal this season in Immaculata's conference win over Gwynedd Mercy on October 23rd. Mayoros has now scored a goal in each of Immaculata's last four games.
  • Della George helped limit Gwynedd Mercy to just two shots on goal and defended three Griffin penalty corners as the flyer in Immaculata's 3-0 conference win over Gwynedd Mercy on October 23rd. George is a strong presence on both ends of the field for Immaculata and assisted on the Mighty Macs' game-winning goal.
UP NEXT
  • The Immaculata field hockey team by clinching second place in the Atlantic East Conference, will host their Atlantic East Conference Tournament Semifinal at Draper Walsh Stadium on Saturday, November 2nd.
  • Immaculata will host the number three seed at a time to be determined. Immaculata will get the winner of the final regular season game between Gwynedd Mercy and Manhattanville on Wednesday.
