GWYNEDD VALLEY, Pa.- Reed Lindsay scored in the game's 70
th minute to put Immaculata ahead to stay as the Mighty Macs defeated Gwynedd Mercy 3-2 on Saturday to clinch a spot in the Atlantic East Conference playoffs.
Immaculata (6-8-1, 3-2 AEC) had jumped out to an early 2-0 lead, before Gwynedd Mercy (2-16-1, 0-5 AEC) pulled a goal back in the 8
th minute, then equalized the score in the game's 54
th minute on a penalty kick.
Immaculata outshot Gwynedd Mercy 26-11, and 10-5 in shots on goal.
How it Happened
- Immaculata opened the scoring in the game's third minute. Matthew Kirkpatrick sent a long throw in into the box area, Michael Prall headed the throw to Jonathan Olaleye on the six who headed the ball into the net to give Immaculata the 1-0 lead.
- The Mighty Macs would add on to their lead in the game's 7th minute when Matthew Kirkpatrick's cross was touched into the net by Oliver Wilkins to give Immaculata a 2-0 lead. Matthew Kirkpatrick recorded his second assist of the game.
- Gwynedd Mercy would pull a goal back in the eighth minute when Braedon Kehan scored his first goal of this game to cut Immaculata's lead to 2-1.
- The game went to halftime with Immaculata leading 2-1.
- Gwynedd Mercy would equalize the score in the game's 54th minute when Braedon Kehan scored his second goal of the game on a penalty kick.
- In the game's 70th minute Reed Lindsay took a corner kick, which was sent back out to him well outside the penalty area. Linday put a high lofting ball on goal that the Gwynedd goalkeeper was unable to get his hands on. The ball found the top of the net, to restore Immaculata's lead.
- Immaculata was able to go on to close out the win 3-2.

- Immaculata has clinched a spot in the Atlantic East Conference Tournament and have assured themselves of finishing at-least in fourth place. The fourth seed would host the fifth seed in the AEC Tournament First Round on Saturday, November 2nd.
