Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Knights’ Early Offense Sinks Men’s Soccer

IMMACULATA, Pa.- On Wednesday afternoon, the Immaculata Men's Soccer team was turned away by Neumann University in a meaningful Atlantic East Conference matchup. The Mighty Macs fell two goals behind six minutes in, as the Knights took the game by a final score of 3-0.

How It Happened
  • Three minutes into play, Neumann collected the match's first goal. The Knights connected passes up the near sideline with the last being played ahead for Jake Kuzmick, who snuck a slow roller in far post.
  • Luke Mejia extended Neumann's early momentum, scoring a right-footed volley from 12 yards out.
  • The Mighty Macs looked to halve the Knight's 2-0 lead, putting chances together soon after. Cooper McKinney nearly received a pass for a breakaway opportunity, but the ball was deterred by Neumann's keeper. Reed Lindsay nearly got free inside the goal box after an Immaculata throw-in, as the eventual touch fell wide of the post.
  • John Wilhelm made saves in the 9th, 15th, and 17th minute.
  • In the 29th minute, Jonathan Olaleye had a left-footed try halted by a Neumann defenseman.
  • Immaculata made a push just before halftime, as Reed Lindsay and Matthew Kirkpatrick each created shots on goal for the Macs.
  • Jonathan Olaleye and Sean Franks found shots just after the break that fell wide.
  • Ryan Straub took the second half in goal, making his mark in the 50th minute. There, he halted a sharp penalty kick attempt by Neumann's Jake Kuzmick. Straub's PK save marked the first of five for the senior keeper.
  • Cooper McKinney had a pair of shots around the 52nd minute.
  • Reed Lindsay and Matthew Kirkpatrick put pressure on Neumann in the middle of the second half.
  • Immaculata's last final attempts came from Oliver Wilkins and Dylan Walter, but each shot fell awry.
  • Neumann locked all windows and doors with their third goal, an 85th minute score by Alex Duopu. Nick LoBiondo forced the issue, darting forward to the endline before dropping a pass to a trailing Duopu for a left-footed goal.
