Macs Down Griffins 3-0 as Andrada Sets Freshman Record

IMMACULATA, Pa.- Abby Fekete, Alexis Andrada, and Kailey Mayoros all scored goals and Julia Levase made two saves as Immaculata defeated Gwynedd Mercy 3-0 in Atlantic East Conference (AEC) field hockey action on Wednesday afternoon at Draper Walsh Stadium.

With the win Immaculata improves to 8-8 overall and 2-1 in conference play while Gwynedd Mercy falls to 3-12 overall and 1-1 in the AEC.

With her ninth goal of the season Alexis Andrada set a new Immaculata field hockey program record for goals in a season. The previous record of eight was set by Ashley O'Donnell in 2011. With 19 points on the season, Andrada is now just one point behind O'Donnell's program record of points in a season by a freshman with 20 set in 2011.

How it Happened
  • Abby Fekete opened the scoring for Immaculata in the game's fifth minute scoring her first goal of the season on an assist from Emilyn Bivens. Fekete inserted a penalty corner, Kailey Mayoras shot was deflected by Bivens and saved, Bivens got her own rebound and fed Fekete who scored to give Immaculata a 1-0 lead.
  • Immaculata extended their lead to 2-0 in the game's 13th minute when Della George inserted a penalty corner to Abby Fekete, who passed the ball back to George who passed the ball to Alexis Andrada who scored her ninth goal of the season with the assist going to Della George.
  • Immaculata led 2-0 after the first quarter, outshooting Gwynedd Mercy 7-1.
  • Kailey Mayoros scored her fifth goal of the season in the third quarter in the game's 35th minute to give Immaculata a 3-0 lead. Maria Berenato took a pass from Alexis Andrada and fed Mayoras for the goal.
  • Immaculata limited Gwynedd Mercy to just one shot in the fourth quarter as the closed out the 3-0 win, outshooting the Griffins 15-4, and 9-2 in shots on goal in the game.
