Rangers Patrol Mighty Macs in Final Non-Conference Test

IMMACULATA Pa.- The Immaculata University men's soccer team fell 0-2 to the Rangers of Drew University on Tuesday night. The match marked the Mighty Macs' final non-Conference game, as Immaculata is set to begin Atlantic East play next Wednesday.

How It Happened
  • Drew took command early, keeping possession on their attacking half.
  • The Rangers took the first five shots of the match, as three missed the goal frame wide and John Wilhelm collected two saves.
  • Jonathan Olalaye created Immaculata's first look off a left footed try in the sixteenth minute.
  • Drew got on the board in the 26th minute. Turkcan Curak took a corner for the Rangers before the cross was played back to him by the goalline. He'd touch ahead before sneaking a left-footed shot in near post.
  • Cooper McKinney looked for an equalizer two minutes later, generating a shot after volleying a pass from Jaden Jones.
  • Drew notched their second goal in the 33rd minute of play. The Rangers used a give and go to advance the ball through their attacking third, ultimately settling and chipping a shot into the middle of the Mighty Macs' goal.
  • With six minutes remaining in the half, John Wilhelm made a sliding save before Dylan Walter made a team save to head away a shot attempt on the rebound.
  • Immaculata entered the break trailing 0-2 to Drew.
  • After Drew defended a good cross from Dan Becker, Sean Franks ripped a shot from outside the box that was deflected away.
  • Immaculata had a breakaway opportunity early in the second half, but the Macs were unable to connect on a cross for a shot attempt.
  • Drew had a pair of corners in the 61st and 62nd minute, but Immaculata deterred both.
  • Inside the final minute, Michael Balestriere sent a shot through traffic on frame, but it was secured by the Rangers' goalkeeper while Collin Hassay pursued a potential rebound.
  • The game clock expired on an Immaculata set piece that was snagged by Drew's keeper between the goal area and penalty marker.
