Men's Soccer set back by Marymount in AEC opener

ARLINGTON, Va.- The Immaculata University men's soccer team fell to the Marymount University Saints on Wednesday night. The match served as each team's Atlantic East Conference opener, as Marymout took the contest by a score of 2-1.

How It Happened
  • Marymount generated the first two shots of the early stages of the game.
  • Fifteen minutes in, Immaculata made an offensive push. Reed Lindsay and Cooper McKinney each had shots saved by Saints' goalkeeper Bayron Banegas,
  • Marymount got on the board in the 17th minute as Franklin Cruz-Reyes found Leonardo Torres for the opening goal.
  • Immaculata netted the equalizer nine minutes later, as Reed Lindsay scored an unassisted goal to level the score 1-1.
  • Alex Corsones found a shot thirty minutes in, but his try would sneak left.
  • John Wilhelm added his second save in the 35th minute.
  • Immaculata and Marymount entered halftime with the score knotted at 1 goal apiece.
  • Daniel O'Rourke had an early second half shot that met the hands of Bayron Banegas.
  • An hour in, Reed Lindsay ripped a shot low right that was stopped by the Saints' keeper.
  • Jonathan Olalaye attempted a shot that led to an Immaculata corner, but the Mighty Macs were unable to convert the set piece.
