HACKETTSTOWN, N.J.- The Immaculata women's volleyball (3-10, 1-1 AEC) team got back into the win column today defeating Centenary 3-0 in an Atlantic East Conference match on Saturday afternoon. The win was the Mighty Macs first Atlantic East Conference win since defeating Centenary 3-0 on October 29, 2021, at Immaculata.
Mia Esposito with eight kills, and
Calissa Araujo with six kills led the Mighty Macs offense.
Christina Lenzo had three service aces, and nine assists, and
Jenna Bozzo had 11 assists.
Emma Hodgson with two blocks, and
Dinah Stabinski with 19 digs led the Immaculata defense.
How it Happened
- In the first set Emma Hodgson got things started with a kill, then Lauren Gartman served four straight points including a service ace and kills by Mia Esposito and Emma Hodgson as Immaculata would take a 5-1 lead. Immaculata would extend their lead to 10-4 with kills from Mel Mann and Hodgson. Jenna Bozzo served three straight points that included kills from Mia Esposito and Calissa Araujo. Araujo would serve the final three points of the first set, with Immaculata winning the set 25-12 on a kill from Mel Mann.
- In set two, with the score tied 5-5, Emma Hodgson had a service ace that was followed by a kill from Eliana Szatkowski as Immaculata took a 7-5 lead. Following a point for Centenary, the Mighty Macs got a side out on a kill from Alayah Phifer. Chrstina Lenzo followed with a service act that put Immaculata ahead 9-6. Lenzo would serve four additional points that included another service ace and kills from Mia Esposito and Alayah Phifer as Immaculata increased their lead to 16-6. Immaculata would go on to take set two 25-19.
- In set three, with the score tied 2-2, Lauren Gartman served six consecutive points including a service ace and a pair of kills from Mia Esposito, and one kill from Calissa Araujo to put Immaculata up 8-2. Dinah Stabinski would extend the Immaculata lead to 16-3 serving seven consecutive points. The run included kills from Esposito and Araujo and finished with a service ace from Stabinski. Immaculata would go on to take set three 25-16 and win the match 3-0.
