SCRANTON, Pa.- The Immaculata women's volleyball team fell in Wednesday night's Conference-opener to Marywood University. The Pacers took the match in three sets (25-18, 25-18, and 25-21). The Mighty Macs welcomed
Emma Hodgson's return, as the junior middle led the match with 5 total blocks and joined
Mia Esposito with a team-leading 6 kills on the night.
How it Happened
- Immaculata held a 4-2 lead in the first set following a service ace from Dinah Stabinski.
- The Mighty Macs extended their early advantage to 7-3 following a double block from Calissa Araujo and Emma Hodgson.
- Marywood's outside hitters swung the momentum toward the home team, as four different Pacers logged a kill for four consecutive points, creating an 11-8 lead.
- A later 6-0 run put Immaculata in a 12-20 deficit, but a pair of attack errors and kills from Emma Hodgson and Calissa Araujo tightened the score to 16-20.
- Marywood closed the opening set on a kill to take the it 25-18.
- Immaculata nudged ahead for an early 6-5 lead in the second set, but a 5-0 run from Marywood generated a 10-6 advantage.
- Jenna Bozzo caught the Pacers with a set fake attack to interrupt their run.Â
- Marywood would lead by as many as ten points up 21-11 before Immaculata took seven of the next eight scores. Calissa Araujo logged a kill and two service aces during the Macs' hot stretch.
- The Pacers would close the second set 25-18.
- Immaculata collected an early 4-1 advantage in the third frame.
- Marywood used two kills to launch a four point string to retake an 8-6 lead.
- The Mighty Macs tied the set 10-10 on a double block from Mia Esposito and Eliana Szatkowski.

- On the first run, Emma Hodgson collected two kills and shared a block with Mel Mann, feeding a 17-19 score.
- On the second run, Mel Mann had two kills and Jenna Bozzo supplied one to net the Macs' 18th, 19th, and 20th point.
- Mann would earn a kill on the second to last volley, as Marywood claimed the match with a 25-21 final set.
