ARLINGTON,Va.- The Immaculata men's basketball team dropped their Atlantic East Conference opener to reigning champion Marymount by a score of 74-72.

Immaculata started out hot from the floor, knocking down multiple triples on the way to a 28-20 lead in the first half. The Saints were able to climb back into the contest to send the game into the break knotted at 41-41 via 26 first half foul shots. Â

Marymount would start the second half hot, leading by as many as 10. The Macs would not go down without a fight, climbing back into the game and evening the score on a pair of
Tyler Tillery free throws with 26 seconds remaining. Marymount would take the lead with 12 seconds to play. The Mighty Macs last second shot attempt would fall short.

Gregory Vlassopoulos led the Mighty Macs in scoring with 15 points,
Tyler Tillery and
Dinero Washington each had 11 points while
John Proctor and
Tim Schultice both had 10 points. Tillery brought in nine rebounds in the contest.
Dylan Crews led Immaculata with four steals to go along with eight points. Vlassopoulos and
Ryan Straub each tallied three steals.

The Mighty Macs knocked down 42.9% of their shots from beyond the arc on the evening.

The Immaculata men's basketball team returns to action at Alumnae Hall on Wednesday, January 10
th when they host Marywood University for an 8:00 PM Atlantic East Conference showdown.
