IMMACULATA, Pa.- The Immaculata men's soccer team defeated the University of Valley Forge 7-0 to earn their first win of the season on Thursday afternoon. Immaculata controlled the play for most of the game outshooting Valley Forge 18-5 in shots on goal.
Josh Fonder got things rolling early for Immaculata scoring in the second minute of the game on an assist from
John Bohrer. Immaculata continued to pressure, and in the 16
th minute
Cooper McKinney scored on an assist from
Michael Balestriere to give the Mighty Macs a commanding 2-0 lead.
In the 20
th minute the Mighty Macs extended their lead to 3-0 on a goal by
Jonathan Olaleye. This was Olaleye's first goal as a Mighty Mac. In the 28
th minute
Josh Fonder scored his second goal of the match on assist from
Matthew Kirkpatrick to give the Macs a 4-0 lead going into the halftime.
In the second half, Immaculata extended their lead to 5-0 on a goal from
Matthew Kirkpatrick that was assisted by
Josh Fonder in the 55
th minute of play.
Josh Fonder completed his hat-trick in the 60th minute on an assist from Shaw Rostucher. The Mighty Macs would complete the scoring in the 77
th minute as
Kyle Coleman scored his first goal as a Mighty Mac on and assist by
Kieran Payton as the Macs earned the 7-0 victory.
Immaculata was led offensively by
Josh Fonder with three goals and one assist, and
Matthew Kirkpatrick with one goal and one assist.
Ryan Straub made five saves in goal to help led the Mighty Macs on the defensive side. The Mighty Macs edged Valley Forge in shots 27-6, and had a 10-1 advantage in corner kicks.
Immaculata (1-4-4) will back in action on Wednesday, October 4
th when they open Atlantic East Conference play hosting Marymount at Draper Walsh Stadium at 7:00 PM.
