IMMACULATA, Pa.- Junior forward
Michael Balestriere scored in the 82nd minute to put Immaculata ahead as they went on to defeat Marymount on Tuesday evening in their Atlantic East Conference opener at Draper Walsh Stadium.
Marymount would open the scoring in the 19
th minute on a goal by Leonardo Torres. Marymount would continue to push the attack early as the generated eight shots in the first half of play.
Immaculata goalkeeper
Ryan Straub made four saves in the first half to keep Immaculata within a goal.
Marymount carried much of the play in the first half, outshooting Immaculata 8-5 and held a 3-1 advantage in corner kicks.
Out of the break Marymount would continue to pressure the Immaculata goal earning consecutive corner kicks.
Immaculata would get on the board in the 55
th minute when
Michael Prall scored off a cross from
Matthew Kirkpatrick to level the game at 1-1.
The game was very physical as each team earned a pair of yellow cards during the match.
Immaculata would take the lead in the 82nd minute when
Michael Balestriere won a ball off a block shot and buried his first goal of the season.
Immaculata would hold on to take the game 2-1.
Junior
Ryan Straub was solid in goal throughout the game making eight saves to lead the Mighty Macs on the defensive end.
