IMMACULATA, Pa.- The Immaculata women's volleyball team defeated the University at Valley Forge 3-0 to raise their record on the season to 7-2. This is the program's best start since 2014, when Immaculata won it's first eight matches.
Immaculata took an early 3-0 lead in the first set as
Emily Ettien served the first three points. Valley Forge battle back to pull with in one point at 4-3.
Karissa Herman would serve four consecutive points with kills form
Allison White and
Ava Thorley as Immaculata raised it's lead to 9-3.
Emily Ettien would step back up and served 11 straight points including two aces as Immaculata took set one 25-7. In the rally Immaculata got kills from
Alayah Phifer,
Dinah Stabinski, and a block from
Allison White.
In set two, Immaculata again jumped out to a quick 5-1 advantage as
Emily Ettien served four straight points Valley Forge would pull the score back to 5-4.
Christina Lenzo served four consecutive points including two service aces and kills from
Isabella Ridgell and
Emily Ettien as Immaculata took a 13-6 lead.
Lily Burnette served five straight points including two service aces as Immaculata went on to take set two 25-14.
In set three, Immaculata went up 3-0 as
Jenna Bozzo served the first three points of the set. Valley Forge would battle back to even the score at 4-4. With Immaculata holding an 8-5 lead,
Gabby Kaminski served 11 consecutive points including two service aces as the Mighty Mas took a 19-5 lead.
Ava Thorley would serve three straight points, before giving way to
Lily Barzousky who served the final two points as the Macs took set three 25-6 and the match 3-0.
Immaculata was led offensively by
Alayah Phifer with eight kills,
Ava Thorley with six kills, and
Isabella Ridgell with five kills.
Emily Ettien distributed 13 assists and added three service aces.
Christina Lenzo had four assists, and
Jenna Bozzo added three assists.
Lily Burnette and
Gabby Kaminski each registered two service aces.
On the defensive side, Immaculata was led by
Karissa Herman with nine digs,
Emily Ettien with seven digs, and
Lily Burnette with six digs.
Allison White and
Calissa Araujo each added one block.
The Immaculata women's volleyball team will be back in action on Thursday, September 21
st when the host Cairn University at Alumnae Hall at 7:00 PM.
