IMMACULATA, Pa.- The Immaculata women's volleyball team bounced back from Thursday nights loss to Eastern, to defeat Cheney University on Friday night 3-0. The Mighty Macs raised their record on the season to 6-2.
In the first set Immaculata jumped out to a quick 5-1 one lead as
Emily Ettien served three consecutive points, and the Mighty Macs got kills from
Isabella Ridgell,
Ava Thorley, and
Mia Esposito.
Christina Lenzo extended the Macs lead to 12-3 serving four straight points. The Macs won the opening set 25-10.
In set two Cheyney took an early 2-0 lead, before the Mighty Macs evened the score at 5-5. After registering the side out to take a 6-5 lead,
Ava Thorley served consecutive aces to put the Macs up 8-5.
Gabby Kaminski entered the match and served three consecutive points as Immaculata took a 14-9 lead. Cheney would continue to battle back throughout the set. After trailing 22-15, Cheyney rallied to pull within two points at 24-22. Immaculata would hold on to take set two 25-22.
In set three,
Emily Ettien served three consecutive points to give the Mighty Macs a quick 4-0 lead. Immaculata would not look back, as
Christina Lenzo,
Karissa Herman, and
Emma Hodgson each served multiple points. Immaculata would take the third set 25-12 to win the match 3-0.
Immaculata was led on the offensive side by
Isabella Ridgell with six kills,
Calissa Araujo with five kills, and
Ava Thorley with three kills.
Mia Esposito and
Emma Hodgson each registered three kills.
Allison White added two kills, and
Christina Lenzo,
Emily Ettien,
Jenna Bozzo, and
Alayah Phifer each recorded one kill.
Emily Ettien distributed 10 assists,
Christina Lenzo registered six assists,
Jenna Bozzo and
Gabby Kaminski added two assists, and
Allison Graham added one assist. Â
Ava Thorley had two services,
Christina Lenzo had two service aces, and Lilly Burnette,
Emily Ettien,
Emma Hodgson,
Karissa Herman, and
Gabby Kaminski each had one service ace.
On the defensive side Immaculata was led by
Karissa Herman with nine digs,
Lily Burnette with seven digs, and
Dinah Stabinski with six digs.
Emma Hodgson registered one block for the Mighty Macs.
Lily Barzousky added one dig for the Mighty Macs.
The Immaculata women's volleyball team will continue it's homestand on Monday, September 18
th when they will host the University at Valley Forge at Alumnae Hall at 7:00 PM.
