ROSEMONT, Pa.- The Immaculata women's volleyball team defeated Rosemont in a hard fought five-set match on the road Tuesday night to raise their season record to 5-1.
In the first set, Rosemont opened a quick 3-0 lead, before Immaculata would use a six-point run to take an 6-3 lead as
Emily Ettien served five-straight points. The teams would exchange the lead throughout the set. Rosemont would hold on to take set one 25-22.
In set two,
Dinah Stabinski came off the bench to serve four straight points with kills from
Mia Esposito and
Ava Thorley as Immaculata took an early 7-1 lead. Rosemont responded and closed the Mighty Macs lead to 7-5. The Macs would continue to hold off Rosemont taking the second set 25-19 on a kill from
Isabella Ridgell.
In the third set, Rosemont went ahead 3-1.
Dinah Stabinski then served four consecutive points as the Mighty Macs took a 6-3 lead. With the Macs leading the set 13-12,
Emily Ettien stepped up and served 10 consecutive points including three service aces. During the run, Immaculata got kills from
Christina Lenzo,
Mia Esposito, and
Isabella Ridgell. The Macs would go on to take set three 25-13 on a kill from
Ava Thorley.
In set four, Immaculata was trailing 22-19, when
Emma Hodgson served five consecutive points to give the Mighty Macs a 24-22 lead. Rosemont refused to go quietly and railed to earn four consecutive points to force a fifth and deciding set taking set four 26-24.
In the fifth set,
Emily Ettien led Immaculata to a quick 6-0 lead, serving the first six points. The Mighty Macs would not look back, getting kills from
Ava Thorley, and a pair of kills from
Emily Ettien to take the fifth set 15-5, and the match 3-2.
Immaculata was led offensively by
Ava Thorley with nine kills,
Isabella Ridgell with eight kills, and
Mia Esposito with six kills.
Emily Ettien distributed 16 assists to go along with four kills, and six service aces.
Emma Hodgson added five kills, and two service aces.
Christina Lenzo registered six assists, and
Karissa Herman had two service aces.
On the defensive side, the Mighty Macs were led by
Dinah Stabinski with 15 digs,
Lily Burnette with 11 digs, and
Ava Thorley with six digs.
Calissa Araujo registered three blocks,
Emma Hodgson added two blocks, and
Isabella Ridgell added one block.
After concluding their six-match road trip, the Immaculata women's volleyball team returns to Alumnae Hall for their home opener on Thursday, September 14
th when they host Eastern University at 7:00 PM. This will be the start of a four-match homestand for the Mighty Macs.
