Second Half Comeback Leads Macs Past Cabrini in Quarterfinals

IMMACULATA, Pa.- The Immaculata men's basketball team came from behind late in the second half as they defeated No. 5 Cabrini in their Atlantic East Quarterfinal 58-57. The Macs will advance to the Atlantic East Semifinals on Wednesday, February 20th when they will travel to play at No. 1 Marymount University.

In the first half of play Cabrini jumped out to an early 7-2 lead. A basket and a pair of free throws from John Flood got the Macs back into the game at 9-6. Gregory Vlassopoulos hit a pair of free throws to give Immaculata a 10-9 lead. John Proctor followed with a three-pointer and jumper to put the Macs up by four with 10:53 remaining in the half. Cabrini would hit a pair of free throws late in the half and carried a 27-23 lead into the halftime break.

In the second half with Cabrini leading 30-26, Tyler Tillery hit a three-pointer with 16:28 remaining to pull the Macs within one point. Cabrini would extend their lead to 41-34 with 12:51 left in the game. Immaculata got a jumper from John Proctor and Tim Schultice scored on a layup and then hit a three-pointer     to even the score at 41-41. The teams would continue to exchange the lead. John Flood tied the game at 50-50 with a layup with 5:00 left. Tyler Tillery put the Macs up 56-54 with 1:35 left to play. John Proctor followed with a layup. Cabrini would hit a three-pointer to close the score to 58-57 late in the game. Immaculata's defense managed close out the 58-57 win.

The Mighty Macs were led offensively by John Proctor who scored 14 points and pulled down six rebounds. Tyler Tillery scored 10 points and added eight rebounds and two blocks. Tim Schultice scored nine points and dished out six assists. Gregory Vlassopoulos scored eight points. John Flood scored six points and contributed six rebounds and three steals. Keith Farmer had a team high nine rebounds and scored six points.

The Immaculata men's basketball team will be back in action on Wednesday, February 20th when they travel to play at Marymount University in the Atlantic East Semifinals.
