ARLINGTON, Va.- The Mighty Macs men's basketball team dropped their Atlantic East Conference Semifinal to No. 1 Marymount on Wednesday evening 81-73.
Immaculata got off to a fast start in the first half with Tyer Tillery scoring the first six points for the Mighty Macs. Gregory Vlassopoulos scored on a layup to put the Macs up 11-6 with 11:33 remaining in the first half. Marcus Stubbs hit four straight three-pointers for Marymount to put the Saints up 18-15. The Mighty Macs battled back to tie the game at 25-25 with 4:49 remaining in the half on a layup from Tyler Tillery. The Macs were unable to hold off Marymount, as they carried a 38-27 lead into the halftime break.
Tyler Tillery led Immaculata offensively in the first half, scoring 13 points while adding three rebounds and a blocked shot.
In the second half, Marymount quickly added to their lead. Immaculata refused to go quietly and closed Marymount's lead to four points with 14L47 remaining. Marymount would respond and grew their lead back into double digits. Though Immaculata trimmed the lead into single digits later in the half, Marymount closed out the win 81-73.
Tyler Tillery was Immaculata's leading scorer with 19 points and added seven rebounds. Keith Farmer and Steven Dao each scored 13 points for the Macs. All 13 of Dao's points came at the free-throw line where he shot 13-15.
Immaculata would like to congratulate its graduating senior Dez Murphy on his collegiate career, and his contributions to the Mighty Macs program.
The Mighty Macs finish the season with an overall record of 10-17.
