IMMACULATA, Pa.- The Immaculata University women's basketball battled to a 60-54 win over Centenary University on Wednesday evening.
Immaculata was led by
Abigail Lentowski with 13 points, and
Abigail Boyer who scored 10 points and added four rebounds.
Reese Mullins scored eight points and had six rebounds.
Morgan Falcone scored seven points and added six rebounds, and
Erin Kelly scored seven points and contributed four rebounds.
In the first quarter Immaculata was trailing 6-2 with 6:00 remaining in the quarter.
Tessa Liberatoscioli scored on a layup to close the score to 6-4, and then
Abigail Boyer hit a three-pointer 4:44 left to put the Macs up 7-6. Centenary led 14-12 at the end of the first quarter.
In the second quarter, Immaculata would get three-pointers from
Morgan Falcone,
Erin Kelly and
Abigail Boyer and took a 30-23 lead with 1:57 remaining. Immaculata would outscore Centenary 18-11 in the second quarter to take a 30-25 lead into half-time.
In the third quarter the Mighty Macs would use an eight-point run to take a 40-27 lead following a layup from
Abigail Lentowski.
Morgan Falcone hit scored on a layup late in the quarter as the Macs would hold a 48-36 led after three quarters of play.
In the fourth quarter Immaculata would grow their lead to 16 points at 56-40 following a pair of baskets each by
Abigail Lentowski and
Abigail Boyer, and a jumper from Megan Ricker. Centenary would refuse to go quietly using a 14-2 run to cut the lead to 58-54 with 0:21 seconds remaining.
Reese Mullins iced the game with a pair of free-throws as the Macs closed out the 60-54 win.
Immaculata (10-10, 5-3 in the Atlantic East) will head to Neumann on Saturday, February 4
th for a conference game beginning at 1:00 PM.
