IMMACULATA, Pa.- The Immaculata University women's basketball team (2-7) dropped 68-60 decision to Widener University (8-1) in a non-conference game on Saturday afternoon.
The first quarter was tight, as the teams exchanged the lead. Widener scored on their first possession, before Immaculata would get back-to-back three pointers from
Olivia Ettorre and
Abigail Lentowski to take a 6-4 lead. Immaculata would get a pair of three pointers from
Morgan Falcone in the quarter.
Abigail Lentowski would get a rebound, and score at the buzzer as Widener led 22-20 at the end of the first quarter.
In the second quarter, Widener extended their lead to five points, before
Abigail Lentowski scored on a lay up in the paint. Immaculata would get consecutive three pointers from
Abigail Boyer, and a jumper from
Tessa Liberatoscioli to take a 30-27 lead. Widener would hit a three pointer late in the quarter to take a 39-38 lead into the halftime break.
Early in the third quarter,
Abigail Lentowski hit a jumper to give Immaculata a 40-39 lead. Immaculata would not trail again in the third quarter, as Widener was able to tie the score three time. Lentowski would score with 1:13 remaining in the quarter to give the Mighty Macs a seven-point lead at 52-45. Widener would respond with a three-pointer and an old fashion three-point play to cut the lead to one. Immaculata would lead 52-51 after the third quarter.
In the fourth quarter, Widener scored six straight points to take a five-point lead at 57-52. Immaculata would get three pointers from
Morgan Falcone and
Abigail Lentowski to take a 58-57 lead with 5:04 remaining. Widener would respond with a five-point run to take a 62-58 lead. Immaculata would get a lay up from
Abigail Lentowski to pull back with in three with 0:23 remaining. Widener was able to close out the game at the free throw line winning 68-60.
Immaculata was led by
Abigail Lentowski with a double-double scoring leading all scorers today with a season high 25 points, with a career-high 18 rebounds, two assists, and three steals.
Morgan Falcone scored 12 points with three assists;
Abigail Boyer scored nine points, and
Tessa Liberatoscioli had five points with five rebounds, and four steals.
