Women's Basketball Falls to Nationally Ranked DeSales in Non-Conference Match Up

CENTER VALLEY, Pa.- The Immaculata women's basketball team was back in action on Saturday as they visited the No. 21 DeSales University Bulldogs. Immaculata fell to DeSales 70-48.

In the first quarter DeSales opened the scoring, before Immaculata would even the score on a lay up from Abigail Lentowski. DeSales immediately applied pressure on the inbound which caused Immaculata to turn the ball over and commit fouls. DeSales would open a 13-5 lead. Immaculata would respond with a three-pointer from Abigail Boyer and a driving lay up from Morgan Falcone to cut the lead to 13-10. DeSales would go on to extend their lead to 27-13 to end the first quarter of play.

The second quarter saw DeSales hit a three-pointer that was immediately countered by Immaculata with a three-pointer of their own by Morgan Falcone. Immaculata would get baskets from Abigail Lentowski, and Abigail Boyer to cut the lead to 38-20. Julia Pohl would score her first point as a Mighty Mac on a free throw with :24 remaining in the half as the Macs trailed at halftime 38-21.

Abigail Boyer led the Macs in the first half with seven points. Abigail Lentowski and Morgan Falcone each scored five first half points. Immaculata had 13 first half turnovers to DeSales 11. DeSales outrebounded Immaculata 27-14 in the half.

DeSales would open the third quarter with three consecutive steals that resulted in a quick six points for the Bulldogs. Immaculata would get their first points of the third quarter when Julia Pohl hit a seven-foot jumper for her first collegiate field goal. Pohl would end the third quarter with seven points as DeSales led 60-29.

In the fourth quarter, Immaculata would get an early basket from Julia Pohl, and a pair of three-pointers from Abigail Boyer. Abigail Lentowski would hit five free throws, and Victoria Foster made three free throws as Immaculata would outscore DeSales 19-10 in the final quarter. DeSales would take the game 70-48.

Immaculata was led by Abigail Lentowski with 12 points, and seven rebounds. Abigail Boyer tied a career-high with 11 points, two rebounds and two assists. Julia Pohl had career-highs in points with nine, rebounds with four, blocks with two, and steals with two. Morgan Falcone and Francesca Scarpone each scored five points, and Tessa Liberatoscioli had three steals for the Mighty Macs. Victoria Foster tied her career high with three points.
