IMMACULATA, Pa.- The Immaculata women's basketball (2-4) team defeated the Eastern University (0-4) 57-48 on Wednesday afternoon.
Morgan Falcone led Immaculata with 14 points, eight rebounds, five assists, and two steals.
Tessa Liberatoscioli scored 13 points, with eight rebounds, four blocked shots, and three steals.
Olivia Ettorre scored a career high 10 points, including going 2-for-3 from behind the arc, and had two blocked shots.
Abigail Lentowski scored seven points, with a game high 13 rebounds, one blocked shot, and two steals.
Emma Wagner scored a career high seven points.
In the first quarter, Eastern took the early 2-0 lead. Immaculata would tie the score on a jumper from
Morgan Falcone.
Tessa Liberatoscioli would score on a jumper with 9:01 remaining in the first quarter to give Immaculata the lead for good. Immaculata would get baskets from
Olivia Ettorre and
Abigail Lentowski, and one free throw from
Tessa Liberatoscioli to take a 9-6 lead into the second quarter.
In the second quarter, Eastern closed Immaculata's lead to one at 9-8. Immaculata would get back-to-back baskets from
Tessa Liberatoscioli and a three-pointer from
Olivia Ettorre to take an 18-12 lead. Eastern would battle back to pull within one at 20-19 late in the quarter.
Morgan Falcone hit a three-pointer with 0:47 remaining in the quarter to give Immaculata the 23-19 lead at the half.
The third quarter began with Eastern scoring early to pull within two points at 23-21. Immaculata would use a jumper from
Olivia Ettorre, a layup from
Morgan Falcone, and a three-pointer from Oliva Ettorre to open a seven-point lead with 6:24 remaining in the quarter.
Emma Wagner would score five points in the final minutes of the third quarter as Immaculata led 41-32 after three quarters.
Eastern came out aggressive in the fourth quarter.
Morgan Falcone hit an early three-pointer and
Emma Wagner hit a jumper to restore a seven-point lead for the Mighty Macs. Down the stretch,
Abigail Lentowski,
Tessa Liberatoscioli,
Abigail Boyer, and
Morgan Falcone all went 2-for-2 at the free throw line as Immaculata earned their second win of the season 57-48.
