DOYLESTOWN, Pa.- The Immaculata women's basketball team (1-4) battled in a non-conference game on Monday evening but fell to Delaware Valley 70-56.
Three Immaculata players scored in double figures in the contest, led by junior Abigail Lentowski with 13 points, seven rebounds, and three steals. Senior Tessa Liberatroscioli scored 10 points with eight rebounds and four steals. Senior Morgan Falcone scored 10 points, with four rebounds, and two steals. Sophomore Olivia Ettorre scored seven points, junior Reese Mullins scored six points, and junior Abigail Boyer scored five points.
In the first quarter, Immaculata opened a quick 6-2 lead on a basket by Abigail Boyer and a pair of baskets by Reese Mullins. Tessa Liberatoscioli, put Immaculata ahead 10-8 with a jumper inside the paint. Delaware Valley scored the final seven points of the first quarter late to take a 22-14 lead into the second quarter.
In the second quarter, Delaware Valley built the lead to 15 points at 29-14. Abigail Lentowski broke their run with a layup with 7:43 remaining in the quarter. Lentowski would follow with a pair of baskets as Immaculata cut the lead down to 11. Midway through the quarter, things got tougher for the Mighty Macs as Reese Mullins was injured when she was fouled and had to leave the game. Delaware Valley would lead 41-25 at the half.
In the third quarter, the Immaculata came out battling. Olivia Ettore scored, and Abigail Boyer scored consecutive baskets as the Mighty Macs cut the lead to single digits early in the quarter. The Macs played tough defense in the third quarter to limit Delaware Valley's opportunities. Morgan Falcone, Tess Liberatoscioli, and Francesca Scarpone each hit a pair of free-throws as the Macs only trailed by six points at the end of the third quarter at 49-43, outscoring the Aggies 18-8 in the quarter.
Delaware Valley was able to regain their double-digit lead in the fourth quarter and closed out the game-winning 70-56.
