Tillery Calls Game as Mighty Macs Hoist Mustang Classic Trophy

OWINGS MILLS,Md.- The Immaculata men's basketball team defeated Stevenson University in the championship game of the Mustang Classic to take home the title with a 66-64 final score.
 
Stevenson opened the scoring with an 8-3 run. The Mighty Macs would respond quickly, with Gregory Vlassopoulos connecting on three shots from beyond the arc in the first half, with a game high 11 points in the half. The Macs would lead by as much as 16, as they headed into the break with a 12 point advantage up 39-27. Freshman Mandon Seapoe had a strong first half off the bench, with eight points and five rebounds. Tyler Tillery added six points and six rebounds while John Proctor connected on two shots from deep for six points early on.
 
The second half would be a different story for the Mighty Macs, as their hot shooting suddenly turned cold. The Mustangs would out score the Mighty Macs by a score of 37-27 in the second half.

With the score tied at 64 all with just eight seconds remaining in the contest, head coach Jayson Hyman called his fifth year veteran's number. Ryan Straub found a wide open Tyler Tillery for an easy layup to give the Mighty Macs a two point lead. The Mustangs shot attempt to tie the contest up in the final seconds was no good, and the Mighty Macs would hang on with a 66-64 victory to capture the first in season tournament championship in program history.
 
 Vlassopoulos would lead both teams in scoring with 16 points on the evening. Tillery and Seapoe both added 10 points, and Proctor eight. 10 Mighty Macs scored in the contest. The Immaculata defense held the Mustangs to 0-13 from beyond the arc in the contest.
 
The Immaculata men's basketball team is back in action Tuesday,November 21st with a 5:00 PM start on the road at Arcadia University.
