IMMACULATA, Pa.- The Immaculata women's volleyball team dropped their Atlantic East Conference matchup Marywood 3-2.
Prior to the match the Immaculata women's volleyball team honored their five seniors,
Lily Burnette,
Ava Thorley,
Allison White,
Emily Ettien and
Isabella Ridgell for their hard work and dedication to the women's volleyball program.
In the first set, the teams exchanged points early. Marywood then used an eight-point run to take a 15-8 lead.
Emily Ettien then served consecutive aces and
Karissa Herman would serve seven consecutive points including a service ace and four kills from
Emma Hodgson as Immaculata took the lead at 18-17. Marywood responded with a pair of three-point runs on their way to winning the first set 25-21.
In set two, Immaculata trailed early 10-5.
Ava Thorley began the comeback serving consecutive points including a kill from
Isabella Ridgell and a block by
Calissa Araujo.
Lily Burnette would serve four consecutive points as the Mighty Macs used a five-point run to take a 13-11 lead.
Isabella Ridgell had four kills during that run.
Ava Thorley would serve three consecutive points later in the set including a service ace as Immaculata evened the match at 1-1 winning set two 25-20.
In set three, Immaculata jumped out to an early 7-2 advantage as
Emily Ettien earned a side out on a kill, and proceeded to serve six consecutive points including a service ace and kills from
Isabella Ridgell and
Mia Esposito.
Christina Lenzo,
Ava Thorley, and
Lily Burnette each had multiple point serving runs as Immaculata won set three 25-12 to take a 2-1 lead.
Marywood responded in set four as they quickly went out to an 8-3 lead. Immaculata fueled by the serving of
Lily Burnette,
Karissa Herman, and
Christina Lenzo battled back to pull back within one at 19-18. Marywood proceeded to extend the match to a fifth set winning set four 25-21.
Marywood went on to close out the match taking set five 15-9 and the match 3-2.
Immaculata was led offensively
Isabella Ridgell with 13 kills,
Mia Esposito with eight kills, and
Emma Hodgson with seven kills.
Christina Lenzo distributed 13 assists, and
Emily Ettien added 12 assists.
Ava Thorley had four service aces,
Lily Burnette had three service aces and
Emily Ettien had three service aces.
On the defensive side, Immaculata was led by
Lily Burnette with 27 digs,
Ava Thorley with 11 digs, and
Dinah Stabinski with eight digs.
Calissa Araujo registered five blocks,
Mia Esposito had three blocks, and
Emma Hodgson had one block.
