IMMACULATA, Pa.- The Immaculata women's volleyball team dropped a hard-fought match against Centenary on Saturday. The Mighty Macs lost to the Cyclones 3-1, as their record dropped to 12-8 on the season with an 0-2 record in Atlantic East Conference play.
Set One- Centenary jumped out to an early 9-2 advantage in the first set before Immaculata earned a side out on a kill by
Alayah Phifer. The Mighty Macs began to climb back into the set as they got a kill from
Mia Esposito, and
Christina Lenzo served two straight points including a service ace. With the score tied at 22-22 Immaculata got a kill from Isabella Ridgel, a service
Emily Ettien, and a kill from
Mia Esposito to win the first set 25-23.
Set Two- Centenary would again take an early 7-1 lead in the second set. Immaculata was unable to get it's footing in the set as the Cyclones evened the match at one set apiece winning 25-13.
Set Three- The teams would exchange points and the lead early in the third set. With the score tied 19-19 Immaculata took the lead on a kill by
Mia Esposito.
Emma Hodgson served consecutive points as the Might Macs took a 22-19 lead. Centenary responded with a five-point run to take a 24-22 lead. The Mighty Macs would not roll over as
Mia Esposito served consecutive points to even the set at 25-25. Centenary would earn consecutive points to win set three 27-25.
Set Four- Centenary would again take an early lead in the fourth set. The Cyclones would go on to close out the 3-1 victory winning the final set 25-14.
Immaculata was led on offense by
Emily Ettien with 10 kills, Alyah Phifer with seven kills, and
Mia Esposito with six kills.
Christina Lenzo had 17 assists, and
Emily Ettien had 13 assists.
Christina Lenzo had three service aces and
Emily Ettien and
Emma Hodgson each had two service aces.
On the defensive side
Karissa Herman had 12 digs, and
Lily Burnette and
Isabella Ridgell each had eight digs.
Emma Hodgson had three blocks for the Mighty Macs. Â

th as they welcome Marywood University to Alumnae Hall for Senior Day at 7:00 PM. The Mighty Macs wil honor their five seniors prior to the match.
