CHESTER, Pa.- The Immaculata women's volleyball team was back in action on Friday evening when they visited Widener University. Immaculata fell to Widener 3-0, in their final non-conference match of the season.
Set One-
Widener quickly opened a 5-0 lead, before Immaculata was able to get a side out on a kill by Ava Thorley. Immaculata was unable to slow down Widener as the Pride would go on to take the opening set 25-11.
Set Two-
Immaculata would use kills from Emily Ettien, Ava Thorley, Calissa Araujo, and Alayah Phifer to narrow Widener's lead to 5-4. Widener would respond with a six-point run to extend their lead to 11-4. Widener would not look back, winning the second set 25-13.
Set Three-
Immaculata jumped out early going ahead by a score of 3-1 on kills by Emma Hodgson and Allison White and a service ace from Karissa Herman. Immaculata would extend their lead to 8-4 on a kill by Alayah Phifer and a service ace from Christina Lenzo. Widener would use a 9-1 run in scoring to take control of the set and closed out the 3-0 win taking set three by a score of 25-15.
Emma Hodgson, Mia Esposito, and Alayah Phifer each recorded five kills to lead Immaculata on the offensive end. Emily Ettien distributed nine assists, Christina Lenzo registered six assists, and Jenna Bozzo added three assists. Karissa Herman had two service aces, and Christina Lenzo added one service ace.
On the defensive side, Lily Burnette led the Mighty Macs with nine digs. Dinah Stabinski registered six digs and Emily Ettien added four digs. Ava Thorley had one block for Immaculata.
