Mighty Macs Defeat Stevenson in Non Conference Match-Up

IMMACULATA, Pa. Following a pair of conference wins last week, the Immaculata University men's soccer team returned to home to host Stevenson University in their final non-conference game of the season. Immaculata despite being outshot 11-6, found itself up at the half 1-0.  They would score a pair of second half goals to pull away for a 3-0 victory over Stevenson.

In the 29th minute, Dylan Walter headed in a ball off a free kick served by Reed Lindsay to give Immaculata the 1-0 lead. Goalkeeper John Wilhelm made six saves in the first half as Immaculata took their 1-0 lead into halftime break.

In the second half, Stevenson continued to apply pressure on the Immaculata goal. John Wilhelm continued his strong play making another six saves in the second half.

Immaculata was finally able to increase their lead to 2-0 in the 76th minute when Josh Fonder headed in a cross from Michael Balestriere. The goal was Fonder's 10th goal of the season.

The Mighty Macs would add on to their lead in the 88th minute when Cooper McKinney scored off his own rebound to give the Macs a 3-0 lead.

Immaculata goalkeeper John Wilhelm earned the clean sheet making 12 saves.

Stevenson edged Immaculata in shots 19-14, and shots on goal 12-9. Immaculata held an 8-7 advantage in corner kicks.

The Immaculata men's soccer team (4-4-4, 2-0 AEC) will be back in action on Saturday, October 14th for Senior Day, when they will honor their four seniors prior to hosting Gwynedd Mercy in an Atlantic East Conference game at 12:00 PM.
