Women's basketball Defeats Marywood in Conference Match Up

SCRANTON, Pa.- The Immaculata women's basketball team had three players score in double figures as they defeated Marywood 61-52 in an Atlantic East Conference game on Monday night. 

Reese Mullins led the way for Immaculata scoring 20 points while contributing six rebounds, two blocks, and one steal. Erin Kelly and Morgan Falcone each scored 10 points for the Macs. Abigail Boyer scored six points, Meghan Ricker scored five points, and Kaitlyn Racobaldo added four points and six rebounds. 

In the first quarter, things began slowly, with both teams getting a feel for the game. Reese Mullins got the Macs going scoring the team's first six points. With the game tied at 8-8, Abigail Boyer hit a three-pointer to put Immaculata up 11-8 late in the quarter. Marywood would hit a three-pointer of their own at the buzzer as the first quarter ended with the game tied at 11-11. 

In the second quarter, Marywood took the lead early before Reese Mullins evened the game at 13-13. Immaculata would take the lead 17-15 on a basket by Morgan Falcone. The Macs would build their lead to double digits behind three-pointers from Morgan Falcone, Meghan Ricker, and a pair from Erin Kelly. Francesca Scarpone hit a pair of free throws late in the quarter, as Immaculata took 31-21 lead into the halftime break. 

In the third quarter, Immaculata would grow their lead to fourteen points behind baskets from Reese Mullins and Morgan Falcone. Marywood would trim the Immaculata lead to seven points before Reese Mullins would break the Pacers run with a pair of baskets. Immaculata would end the quarter with a 45-36 lead. 

In the fourth quarter, Kaitlyn Racobaldo scored early to give the Macs an eleven-point lead. Marywood did not go quietly as they cut the Immaculata lead down to seven late in the quarter. Immaculata would close out the game behind a later jumper from Meghan Ricker and Erin Kelly shooting 4-for-4 from the foul line down the stretch to earn the 61-52 win. 

The Immaculata women's basketball team (8-10, 4-3 Atlantic East) returns home Wednesday night when they host Centenary in an Atlantic East Conference game at 6:00 PM.
