OWINGS MILLS, Md.- The Immaculata men's soccer team earned their second consecutive win tonight defeating Stevenson University on the road 1-0. Junior
Joshua Phillips served a corner kick into the box that deflected into the net off a Stevenson defender in the 80
th minute to break the scoreless tie. The win raises Immaculata's record on the season to 2-1.
The teams battled through a scoreless first half with Stevenson outshooting Immaculata 10-3, and holding a 4-2 lead in shots on goal. The Mighty Macs were able to defend several good scoring opportunities for Stevenson. In the second half the Mighty Macs began seeing some additional chances on offense with 4 shots on goal in the half.
The Macs were led on defense by the trio goalkeepers
John Wilhelm,
Garrett Pepper, and
Ryan Straub who combined to keep the clean sheet. On the offensive end the Macs were led by
Joshua Phillips who scored the games only goal and had 3 shots on goal.
The Mighty Macs are back in action on Tuesday, September 13
th when the travel to play Penn State Brandywine at 4:00 p.m.
